Terms & Conditions
Welcome to the 929 Challenge Startup Competition! These terms and conditions govern your participation in our startup competition. By registering and participating in the competition, you agree to comply with these terms and conditions.

1. Eligibility:
1.1 Participants must be 18 years old years or older.
1.2 Two Categories in the Competition: Startups or University Teams
1.3 Participants must be located in any of the nine Portuguese Speaking Countries (Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Guinea Equatorial, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Timor Leste) and China (Including SAR´s Macau and Hong Kong”.
1.4 Startups must meet the specific requirements related to their category:
University Category:
– In the Students Category, enrolled as full-time or part-time students at a recognized university or college
– University Teams consist of a minimum of 2 students from the same university to participate in the competition.
Startup Category:
– In the Startup Category we accept early-stage startups or those that have a minimum-viable product or proof of concept.
– Do not own a company or startup with a maturity of more than 10 Years

2. Registration Process:
2.1 To participate, you must complete the online registration form by the specified deadline.
2.2 You are responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date information during the registration
process.
2.3 Failure to complete the registration process by the deadline may result in disqualification.

3. Intellectual Property:
3.1 Participants retain full ownership of their ideas and intellectual property rights.
3.2 By participating, participants grant 929 Challenge a non-exclusive license to use, review, and
evaluate the submitted materials for the competition.
3.3 929 Challenge will handle all submitted materials with confidentiality and will not disclose any
sensitive information without prior consent.

4. Judging Criteria:
4.1 The participants’ startups will be evaluated based on predetermined criteria, including but not limited to business linkage between Portuguese Speaking Countries and China (both ways), sustainability, market potential, feasibility, scalability, and team strength.
4.2 The judging panel’s decisions will be final and binding.
4.3 The Judging Scores are confidential and not made public.

5. Prizes and Awards:
5.1 Winners will be awarded a total of 32.000 USD, rewards in different categories, and funding opportunities from investors.
5.2 The 929 Challenge will invite the finalists to Macau to compete in the finals on the 9 of November (Only 1 person per startup). 929 Challenge will take Charge of Hotel and Travel Expenses.

6. Confidentiality:
6.1 Participants should treat all confidential information shared during the competition with strict confidentiality.
6.2 The 929 Challenge and its judges will also maintain confidentiality regarding participants’ sensitive information.

7. Code of Conduct:
7.1 Participants must conduct themselves professionally and ethically throughout the competition.
7.2 Participants must comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
7.3 Violation of the code of conduct may result in disqualification.

8. Disqualification and Termination:
8.1 The 929 Challenge reserves the right to disqualify or terminate the participation of any participant in case of violation of the terms and conditions or any unethical behavior.
8.2 Disqualified participants will forfeit any prizes or rewards.

9. Liability and Indemnification:
9.1 Participants assume full responsibility for any risks, damages, or losses arising from their participation in the competition.
9.2 Participants agree to indemnify and hold 929 Challenge harmless from any legal actions or claims resulting from their participation.

10. Modifications and Termination:
10.1 The 929 Challenge reserves the right to modify or amend these terms and conditions at any time.
10.2 In the event of cancellation or termination of the competition, 929 Challenge will notify participants using the contact information provided during registration.

11. Investment Success Fee
A Success fee may be applied in case of successful investment round from our network of investors.
